Ten Minutes of Kindness

This is Ruhi. She is twenty-four years old and studies Psychology at a big University. Every morning, Ruhi leaves home with her bag and books in hand. At the University, she learns about feelings, kindness, and how love can heal hearts.

But Ruhi's favourite lessons do not come from books.

On her way to and from the university, she walks along the streets where many little dogs live. Ruhi stops to smile at them, talk to them, and gently play with them. She loves them all unconditionally. One day, while standing on the street and talking to someone, something too precious happened. 

A little dog came walking toward Ruhi.

One of his legs was bent, and he looked very hungry. He cried softly and rested his head near her. Ruhi patted his head and tried to move away, but the little dog followed her again. So Ruhi stopped there. She stood quietly as the little dog rested his head on her, and she petted him gently for ten whole minutes.

After a while, the little dog began feel better. He looked at Ruhi one last time and ran away. Ruhi watched him go, smiling. She knew he did not come for food or toys.

He came for love. And that day, he chose her.

Moral of the Story

Love does not always ask for food or words. Sometimes, it just sits quietly and makes the hurt feel smaller.
